Job Description: Finance Internship

Overview:

CSX offers a 10-week internship within the Finance Department, providing a comprehensive immersion into the company’s methods and culture. Interns are involved in challenging real-world assignments, collaborating with senior leaders to improve decision-making and financial performance. This internship aims to provide a realistic glimpse into the role of a corporate finance professional and to identify potential future talent for CSX.

Responsibilities:

Project-Based Learning: Interns play a vital role in completing assigned finance projects, gaining hands-on experience in various financial tasks.
Business Partner Collaboration: Interns develop relationships with internal business partners, analyzing marketing, operations, and capital projects. They help identify economic tradeoffs and contribute to real-time business decisions.
Analytical Support: Interns provide analytical support for operations reviews, resource allocations, and financial valuations.
Forecasting & Planning: They contribute to the development of short- and long-term forecasts, plans, and strategies.
Financial Modeling: Interns build and utilize financial models to quantify benefits and ensure sound, data-driven economic decisions.
Communication & Presentation: Interns consult with senior management and business partners, communicating analyses and insights through presentations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Age: At least 18 years old
• Education: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Information Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• GPA: Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4-point scale).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduation Timeline: Expected to graduate within a year after the internship ends.
• GPA: Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA (on a 4-point scale).
• Knowledge & Skills:
• Academic distinction with strong financial or quantitative skills.
• Proven leadership ability and initiative.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
• Ability to create and deliver presentations to senior audiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
