Job Description: Visa Finance Internship
Visa’s Finance internship program offers a high-visibility role within the payments industry. Interns work alongside experienced Finance professionals, gaining skills and contributing to Visa’s business through challenging projects. The program includes:
• Challenging Projects: Interns tackle impactful projects, receiving training, guidance, and feedback to drive meaningful change.
• Exclusive Speaker Series: Participation in two executive speaker series provides insights into Visa’s operations and the broader finance landscape.
• Project Presentation: At the end of the summer, interns present their projects to Visa’s Finance Leadership Team.
• Placement: Interns are placed in finance functions (Controllership, FP&A, Treasury, and Strategic Sourcing) based on experience, interest, and Visa’s needs.
• Full-Time Opportunities: High-performing interns are considered for full-time roles in Visa’s two-year Finance Leadership Development Program (FLDP).
Core Function Overviews:
• Controllership: Focuses on understanding, recording, and reconciling accounting transactions; analyzing financial statements; and participating in external financial reporting, including compliance with internal controls.
• Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Develops detailed understandings of factors impacting Visa’s P&L to optimize financial performance and achieve financial goals. This involves planning, analysis, identifying improvements, and making or enabling business decisions.
• Treasury: Facilitates and optimizes global fund movement for Visa’s business, managing the settlement of Visa transactions (~$60B/day), foreign exchange across numerous countries and currencies, offering Treasury-as-a-Service (TaaS) solutions, and managing insurance activities, cash, liquidity, and debt.
• Strategic Sourcing: Works with business leaders to establish third-party partnerships that drive efficiency, cost savings, and performance improvements. This involves leveraging best practices and collaborating with various teams (supplier risk management, legal, FP&A, and IT).
FLDP (Finance Leadership Development Program):
Successful interns may be offered a position in the FLDP, a two-year program consisting of four six-month rotations. This program aims to build foundational knowledge, expand professional networks, and foster professional growth. Graduates of the FLDP typically pursue Finance Senior Manager roles.
