Job Description: Finance Internship
This internship is a 10-week immersion into the world of CSX Finance, offering real-world experience and a chance to learn about the company’s culture and methods.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
• Project Work: Interns play a crucial role in completing identified finance projects. These projects provide a glimpse into the daily tasks of a finance professional.
• Business Partner Collaboration: Interns will build relationships with internal business partners. This includes analyzing marketing, operations, and capital projects to understand economic tradeoffs and help make real-time business decisions.
• Analytical Support: Provide analytical support for operations reviews, resource allocations, and financial valuations.
• Forecasting and Planning: Contribute to the development of short- and long-term forecasts, plans, and strategies.
• Financial Modeling: Develop and utilize financial models to quantify benefits and drive sound, fact-based economic decisions.
• Communication and Presentation: Consult and communicate analyses through presentations to senior management within the department and business partners from other departments.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
• Education: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Information Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related major field of study from an accredited institution.
• GPA: Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4-point scale).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Graduation: Anticipated graduation within a year after the end of the internship.
• GPA: Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.5 (based on a 4-point scale).
Knowledge and Skills:
• Academic Distinction: Proven academic success with a strong interest in finance or quantitative fields.
• Leadership and Initiative: Proven leadership ability and a proactive approach.
• Communication: Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
• Presentation Skills: Ability to develop and deliver presentations to a senior level audience.
• Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office.
