Internship Description

Focus: This 10-week internship program within the Finance Department provides a deep immersion into CSX’s culture and methods. Interns work directly with leaders across the company on challenging, real-world assignments that contribute to improved decision-making and financial performance.

Experience: This internship offers candidates a realistic look into the world of corporate finance and allows CSX to actively recruit promising future talent.

Primary Responsibilities:

Project Work: Interns play a crucial role in completing identified finance projects, gaining hands-on experience in the day-to-day tasks of a finance professional.
Internal Collaboration: Interns build relationships with internal business partners, analyzing marketing, operations, and capital projects. This includes understanding economic trade-offs to inform real-time business decisions.
Analytical Support: Interns provide analytical support for various activities such as:
• Operations reviews
• Resource allocations
• Financial valuations
Forecasting & Strategy: Interns contribute to the development of short- and long-term forecasts, plans, and strategies.
Financial Modeling: Interns develop and utilize financial models to quantify benefits and drive sound, fact-based economic decisions.
Communication & Presentation: Interns communicate analyses through presentations to senior management and business partners from other departments.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Age: At least 18 years old
• Education: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Information Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related major field of study from an accredited institution.
• GPA: Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4-point scale)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Anticipated graduation within a year after the internship’s end.
• Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.5 (based on a 4-point scale).

Knowledge & Skills:

Academic Excellence: Strong academic record with a demonstrated interest/talent in financial or quantitative fields.
Leadership & Initiative: Proven ability to lead and take initiative.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
Presentation Skills: Ability to develop and deliver presentations to senior-level audiences.
Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Job Requirements:

Work Environment: Work will be conducted in an office setting.
Communication: Effective communication with senior leadership and executive audiences is required.
Deadlines: Ability to work within established deadlines is essential.
Background Checks: Successful completion of a background check and drug test is mandatory.
