About Tesla Finance Internship:
Tesla Finance is a vital part of the company’s operations, encompassing both traditional financial planning and analysis and strategic decision-making. The team is deeply involved in daily operations, supporting both short-term execution and long-term planning.
Interns will gain valuable experience by working closely with their manager, mentor, and team on projects critical to their team’s success. The program aims to provide interns with a comprehensive understanding of life at Tesla through hands-on involvement.
Tesla Finance is organized into several subgroups:
• Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): This team leads Tesla’s P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow forecast processes, working with leadership and the Board of Directors. They also analyze the impact of business decisions and drive long-term planning for new products and capabilities.
• Engineering Finance: This team manages R&D investments, tracks profit improvement initiatives, and supports product development by establishing cost targets and guiding engineering, design, and supply chain decisions.
• Manufacturing Finance: This team manages global manufacturing investments, evaluates major CapEx decisions, and drives cost improvement initiatives for all products.
• Energy Products Finance: This team consolidates business activities, develops financial projections, drives cost optimization, and leads pricing efforts for Energy Products.
• Sales, Marketing, and Service (SMS) Finance: This team manages investments into SMS activities, leads profitability analysis, drives pricing efforts, and evaluates ROI for new markets and business models.
Job Description:
Interns will be assigned to one of the above subgroups based on their experience, interests, and educational background. They will gain valuable experience in the following areas:
• Analyzing data and providing recommendations
• Leading cross-functional decision-making and implementation
• Developing and tracking key performance indicators
• Improving profitability
• Managing investments
• Supporting product development
Specific responsibilities may vary based on the assigned team.
Requirements:
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree (Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or other technical degrees are a plus) or equivalent.
• Exceptional analytical skills
• Strong modeling skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, experience with Microsoft PowerQuery/Power BI and/or SQL is a plus.
• Ability to work independently, detail-oriented, and execution-focused
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
• Highly collaborative and team-oriented
This is a full-time internship, requiring a minimum of 12 weeks, starting around May/June 2025 and lasting through August. International students with CPT authorization must be able to work 40 hours per week.
