Job Description: Finance Intern

AARP Innovation Labs’ Finance Team seeks a finance intern to support business and financial operations within the AgeTech Collaborative™ (ATC). This paid internship offers practical experience in a results-driven, innovative environment. The internship is anticipated to begin in Spring 2025 and may continue throughout the year.

Responsibilities:

Procurement and Contract Management: Apply business acumen and AARP’s procurement policies to establish new vendors, draft contractual agreements (Statements of Work (SOWs), Sponsorship Agreements, Speaker Agreements, etc.), and prepare purchase requests.
Financial Operations: Ensure timely and accurate payments via check requests, wire transfers, and invoice submissions to accounts payable. Assist with the monthly close process (reviewing results, preparing journal entries, and reclassing entries). Assist in quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting.
Collaboration and Compliance: Facilitate execution of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with startups in ATC’s Accelerator program. Ensure compliance with AARP’s Records Management Information Policies regarding contracts and investments.
Additional Support: Support the team on other projects as needed.

Qualifications:

Preference given to MBA students concentrating in finance or accounting.
• Enrollment in an accredited college/university program (rising undergraduate junior/senior, graduate student, post-doctoral student) or recent graduate enrolled in continuing education; must remain enrolled throughout the internship.
Self-starter, adaptable to tight deadlines, results-driven.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
• Familiarity with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and EPM (Enterprise Performance Management) systems (a plus).
• AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position.

• Hybrid work environment (remote work on Mondays and Fridays, except for essential functions; remote work limited to the US and its territories).

Compensation and Benefits:

• hourly rate: $18 (undergraduates), $21 (graduate students), $28 (Ph.D. candidates).
• Interns are non-exempt and ineligible for employee benefits.
