Emory Healthcare Finance Fellowship Program: A Two-Year Journey to Healthcare Leadership

Emory Healthcare (EHC), a leading academic medical center, offers a comprehensive two-year, full-time paid Finance Fellowship Program designed to groom future healthcare executives. This program provides a deep dive into the intricate world of healthcare finance, encompassing everything from Financial Planning and Analysis to Revenue Cycle Operations.

What You’ll Gain:

In-Depth Understanding: The fellowship offers a unique opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the full spectrum of healthcare financial services within an academic medical center environment.
Hands-On Experience: Fellows participate in rotations and hands-on project work across diverse departments: Physician Group Practice, Hospital Group, Corporate Finance, and Revenue Cycle.
Leadership Exposure: Directly report to a Chief Financial Officer and cultivate relationships with senior Financial Executives throughout the program.
Strategic Insight: Observe and participate in system-level planning and leadership meetings, gaining valuable insights into strategic decision-making.
Technical Skill Development: Hone technical skills by working with a variety of financial databases and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Assessment: Complete rotations and gain a comprehensive understanding of Revenue Cycle operations, Physician Compensation, and Physician Recruitment.
Financial Analysis: Demonstrate strong analytical skills by completing assigned projects and rotations, showcasing a grasp of basic financial analysis principles.
Budgeting Expertise: Contribute to the preparation of operating and capital budgets as part of a finance team.
Professional Development: Work closely with preceptors and mentors to craft a tailored professional development plan. Attend educational in-services and engage in relevant professional activities and organizations to stay updated on current trends and best practices.
Relationship Building: Cultivate positive working relationships across departments by attending leadership meetings and actively participating in organizational activities.

Qualifications:

Masters Degree: A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Finance, or a similar program is required. Applicants must have earned their degree before starting the program, except for programs that necessitate a residency or fellowship.
Healthcare Experience: Prior work experience in healthcare, including internships, is preferred.
Leadership Demonstrated: Showcase leadership qualities through community involvement or professional associations.
