Job Description
About Host Guest
Host Guest is a U.S.-based startup launched in 2024 and officially registered in Georgia in 2025. Their platform connects international and out-of-state students with verified host families across the United States, providing a safe, affordable, and culturally rich housing experience. The company is preparing for a national launch in August 2025 and currently operates with a fully remote team of over 20 interns across various departments.
The Role
Host Guest is seeking a Finance & Accounting Intern to support internal budget tracking, expense coordination, and overall financial organization for the startup. This is a high-trust position requiring experience, precision, and accountability. The intern will collaborate closely with the Project & Operations Lead, CEO, and team leads to ensure clear and on-track financial processes. This role provides real-world experience in early-stage company budgeting during growth. The intern will take ownership of essential financial tracking and documentation across the organization, rather than just shadowing.
Key Responsibilities:
• Track intern stipends, create payment logs, and manage payout timelines.
• Build and maintain clean budget trackers for operational and departmental expenses.
• Organize documentation for platform-related costs, tool subscriptions, and team-wide resource spending.
• Coordinate with hiring leads and the CEO to confirm role allocations and financial approvals.
• Support the preparation of internal reports for burn rate, forecasting, and budgeting status.
• Log platform development and technology costs with the product and tech teams.
• Ensure that all records are updated weekly and properly filed in shared folders.
• Collaborate with the data team to align budget reports and project status updates.
Qualifications:
• Must be based in the United States.
• Studying or recently graduated in accounting, finance, or business.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in finance-related roles or internships.
• Skilled in Google Sheets, Excel, or similar spreadsheet and tracking systems.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable.
• Comfortable working in a remote environment and managing deadlines independently.
• Strong communication skills with a professional, proactive attitude.
• Bonus if you have experience in a startup, cross-department coordination, or tool tracking.
