What You’ll Learn & Achieve

• Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Dive into strategic financial forecasting and performance evaluation.
• Taxation: Understand the complexities of corporate tax structures and compliance.
• Accounting Principles: Apply fundamental accounting practices in a real-world setting.
• Sourcing: Explore procurement strategies and supply chain finance.
• Business Services: Gain insights into crucial functions like Credit & Collections and Accounts Payable.
• Business Division Support: Partner directly with various business units, offering financial insights and guidance.

As an intern, you will contribute within one of the following specialized teams, gaining deep expertise:

• Financial Planning & Analysis
• Operational Finance
• Real Estate/Facilities Finance
• Sourcing
• Internal Audit
• Controllership
• GL Accounting
• Reporting/Consolidations

Key Responsibilities

During your 10-12 week internship, you will be empowered to make significant contributions, including:

• Financial Analysis & Insights: Extracting critical data from advanced financial systems to perform in-depth analyses. You’ll help explain variances in financial performance across various organizational segments, develop robust business cases for strategic investment projects, or assess the impact of changes to key business processes.
• Budgeting & Forecasting Support: Playing an active role in the development of budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans. This will involve managing complete and timely data inputs, compiling comprehensive data sets, summarizing findings for senior management review, and investigating deviations from expected outcomes.
• Account Management & Reporting: Preparing accurate asset, liability, and capital account entries. You will assist in the meticulous preparation of financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends, alongside performing essential account reconciliations.
• Special Projects & Research: Participating in vital research and analysis concerning the impact of evolving accounting standards, changes in company strategies, or other significant special projects that drive organizational growth and efficiency.
• Operational Efficiency Initiatives: Collaborating on projects specifically designed to enhance efficiency, elevate service levels, and reduce operational costs within shared service processes, such as credit management, billing, collections, cash applications, and accounts payable.
• Acquisition Support: Providing crucial support for business case development, due diligence, and integration efforts related to company acquisitions, contributing to UL Solutions’ strategic expansion.
• Capital Investment Optimization: Assisting project managers in developing compelling business cases and implementing best practices to improve the Return on Investment (ROI) for key capital investments.
• Ad-Hoc Contributions: Performing other duties as directed, embracing diverse challenges and expanding your skill set.

Who We’re Looking For

You are an ideal candidate if you possess:

• A current enrollment as a rising senior, actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated exceptional ability to collect, analyze, and interpret complex information from a variety of sources.
• A strong working knowledge of fundamental accounting principles, acquired through academic coursework or prior internship experience.
• Proficiency and practical experience using the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Experience working with enterprise-level Business ERP systems (such as Oracle, NetSuite, etc.) is a distinct advantage.
• An indefinite right to work in the United States.
