About the Job: Product Support – Field Service Engineer/Representative (4-Year Rotation Program)

We are looking for entry-level talent to join Solar Turbines, a Caterpillar company, in a dynamic 4-year rotation program as a Field Service Engineer/Representative.

This program is designed for early career professionals with an engineering background who are eager to gain broad exposure to Solar’s products and customer service operations. You will play a crucial role in providing technical and administrative support to our District offices, ensuring our customers’ machinery operates efficiently and safely.

Program Overview:

This is a structured 4-year program for entry-level / early talent individuals:

  • Year 1: Early Talent Training Program
    • Based at Solar’s Global Headquarters in San Diego, CA, with additional assignments at Solar’s Worldwide Overhaul Facility in DeSoto, TX.
    • Receive comprehensive training including:
      • Online web-based training.
      • In-class Instructor Led Training.
      • Lab-based hands-on training.
    • Participate in structured on-the-job training focused on broad exposure to Solar’s products and the Customer Service organization. This training will be conducted:
      • In the field, supervised by a Domestic District office.
      • Coordinated with commissioning and maintenance field teams at customer sites.
      • Within controls engineering assignments.
      • At the Customer Service Response Center (San Diego, CA).
      • At the Worldwide Overhaul Facility (DeSoto, TX).
    • Be mentored by experienced Regional Field Engineers (RFE’s) and Field Service Representatives (FSR’s) throughout all hands-on training.
  • Years 2-4: Field Service Engineer/Representative
    • Upon successful completion of the 12-month Early Talent Training Program, you will commit to spending 3 additional years at ONE of our U.S. district offices.
    • You will be provided with a company vehicle to travel to customer sites within your assigned district.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and administrative support to District offices in support of customer machinery.
  • Ensure compliance with Solar and customer Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Management Systems, specified EHS requirements, and best practices.
  • Provide guidance on EHS to other Field Service Representatives and personnel visiting customer sites or facilities.
  • Extensive hands-on work at customer sites.
  • Frequent interaction with customers to address their needs and provide solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • GPA: Minimum GPA of 2.80 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Experience: 0-2 years of related experience.
  • Travel & Flexibility: Must be able and willing to travel extensively, relocate, and work overtime.
  • Personal Attributes: High integrity, high level of self-confidence, ability to handle high-pressure deadlines and situations, and communicate in a professional manner.
  • Work Environment: This position requires working onsite five days a week.

Compensation & Benefits:

The total rewards package for this role includes a competitive base salary and comprehensive benefits:

  • Base Salary: $75,500 annually.
