Designed for bright and motivated college students, this program provides challenging and impactful work experiences. We are actively seeking individuals passionate about Civil Engineering and Construction Management, ready to apply their academic knowledge in a dynamic, real-world construction environment. As an Intern, you will be strategically placed at one of our many project locations, gaining hands-on experience and contributing directly to project success.
Your Role as a Field Engineer Intern
Under the guidance of project managers, project engineers, and the seasoned on-site construction staff, you will play a crucial role in applying engineering technology principles, methods, and techniques. This internship is designed to give you a holistic understanding of the project lifecycle.
Key Expectations & Responsibilities:
To excel in this role, you will be expected to develop a strong working knowledge of the entire project, encompassing:
• Plan Interpretation: Understanding and deciphering complex engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Project Specifications: Gaining familiarity with detailed project requirements and standards.
• Cost Code Knowledge: Learning the financial tracking and coding systems critical for project management.
• Overall Construction Schedule: Comprehending the project timeline and its intricate dependencies.
You will support published corporate policies, set a productive and consistent work example, and be responsible for diligent follow-up on all assigned tasks.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Field Engineer Intern, your daily activities will be diverse and impactful, including:
• Field Condition Assessment & Testing: Actively assist in evaluating site conditions and conducting acceptance testing to ensure compliance with project standards.
• Quality Assurance & Control: Support critical engineering materials testing, contributing to the project’s robust quality assurance and quality control framework.
• Surveying & Layout: Apply foundational survey knowledge to assist with precise project layout and meticulously check completed work against plans and specifications.
• Drawing Review & Coordination: Review project drawings, proactively identifying and coordinating any necessary design changes with relevant stakeholders.
• Document Control: Provide essential assistance with document management, including correspondence, submittals, and design releases, ensuring efficient information flow.
• Design Clarification: Initiate and manage requests for engineering design clarifications, ensuring all field queries are addressed promptly and accurately.
• Quantity Tracking & Productivity Analysis: Perform detailed quantity tracking and productivity analysis to identify opportunities for maximizing operational efficiency.
• Scheduling Support: Assist in preparing and updating the project schedule, actively interacting with all parties involved in critical scheduling decision processes.
• Field Support & Subcontractor Management: Respond to field requests for design clarifications and actively participate in managing subcontractor field operations, including verifying contract payments.
• Temporary Structures Design: Provide valuable design assistance to the project engineer for temporary structures, utilizing cutting-edge computer-aided design (CAD) tools.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals who meet the following criteria:
• Current Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited technical college or university, pursuing a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar relevant program.

Compensation
This internship offers a competitive hourly wage:
• Salary Min: USD $26.00/Hr.
• Salary Max: USD $30.00/Hr.
