Fermentation Research and Development Internship
This internship opportunity within Cargill’s Core Research and Development (Core R/D) group is designed for students with a career interest in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, or Fermentation. It offers the chance to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world business environment.
Your Work:
• You will be assigned to one or two substantive projects, acting as the primary technical contributor with leadership support from the Core R&D team.
• This internship offers hands-on work experience in one of the world’s largest agribusiness companies.

• Duration: 12 weeks
• Compensation: Paid hourly

Required Currently pursuings:
• Education: Currently pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. in biotechnology, life science, engineering, or a related field, graduating between December 2025 and May 2027.
• Availability: Able to complete a 12-week internship in the summer (May/June – August 2025).
• Location: Geographically flexible and willing to relocate to Plymouth, MN for this internship.
• Experience: Practical experience in a research lab setting (e.g., bioinformatics, genomics/proteomics/metabolomics, biochemical engineering, fermentation, microbiology, and/or molecular biology techniques).
• Skills: Basic technical skills beyond coursework in omics, fermentation, microbiology, and/or molecular biology. Proven ability to work effectively with diverse teams. Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness.
• Collaboration & Communication: Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Currently pursuings:
• GPA: Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• Demonstrated Skills: Demonstrated ability in collaboration, communication, motivation, teamwork, and successful work completion.
• Problem-solving & Leadership: Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
