What You’ll Actually Do
• Drafting Documents: Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and settlement documents for various family law matters.
• Case Management: Manage client case files, organize and review documents, and ensure all court and internal deadlines are met consistently.
• Scheduling & Communication: Maintain calendars, schedule hearings and appointments, and coordinate communication with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
• Court Filings: Prepare and file legal documents with the court and summarize financial records and other evidence as required.
• Trial Support: Support attorneys during mediation, hearings, and trials by preparing exhibits, witness lists, and other essential materials.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Professional experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or similar role, preferably in family law or civil litigation. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or completion of an ABA-approved paralegal program, is preferred.
• Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience, ideally within family law, demonstrating strong legal research, document drafting, and case file management skills.
• Skills: Proficiency with legal practice management software, document management tools, and standard office applications (Word, Excel, PDF tools). Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with a customer-service mindset and discretion in handling sensitive client information.
• Bonus: Knowledge of family law procedures, court rules, and filing requirements in the applicable jurisdiction is highly beneficial.
