Job Description: Fall Cooperative Intern Engineer
ACE is seeking motivated, organized, and innovative fall cooperative intern engineers to significantly contribute to the delivery of complex construction projects in the Washington D.C. and Baltimore areas. This is an on-site position where the intern will support the Project Manager and Superintendent. The role involves leveraging ACE’s unique pre-construction, equipment, and personnel resources to efficiently deliver self-perform construction projects, particularly in the heavy construction industry, focusing on water and wastewater facilities.
This position demands great initiative, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. The intern will be a key player in resolving challenging issues that arise on-site and will collaborate daily with construction professionals on water infrastructure projects. This co-op experience is designed to open up exciting career opportunities within ACE and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
• Estimating:
• Develop a strong understanding of the estimating process.
• Ability to develop detailed estimates.
• Ability to complete basic quantity takeoffs.
• Pre-construction:
• Assist the pre-construction team in setting up projects for mobilization.
• Negotiate and write purchase orders and subcontracts.
• Complete submittal reviews.
• Project Management:
• Understand contract documents to work within project controls.
• Understand all aspects of labor reports.
• Ability to perform change order proposals.
• Ability to develop 3-week lookahead schedules.
• Understand project profitability.
• Work seamlessly with co-workers, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
General Responsibilities:
• Comply with and uphold ACE safety policy.
• Attend ACE staff meetings.
• Participate in and complete ACE learning and development activities.
• Attend ACE intern events.
Job Details:
• Job Type: Internship
• Pay: $20.00 – $23.00 per hour
• Schedule: 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday, No nights, No weekends.
