The Tone:
This is an internship at Arbour Counseling Services, located in Fall River, Massachusetts. Arbour Counseling Services provides trusted quality behavioral health and substance use treatment programs to individuals of all ages, groups, families, and couples. This role matters as it offers high-quality training and supervision to students in the mental health field, equipping them with the skills and experience to provide meaningful and quality care to those in need within a multidisciplinary behavioral healthcare system. The program aims to develop interns into capable counselors and therapists.
The TL;DR

• Mission: Provide high quality training and supervision to students regarding the role and responsibilities of a counselor/therapist within a multi-leveled, multi-faceted and multidisciplinary Behavioral Healthcare System.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead: Facilitate group therapy sessions, including psychotherapy, expressive therapy, and psychoeducation on various topics.
• Assess: Conduct clinical assessments to diagnose mental health and substance use disorders and perform individualized treatment planning.
• Manage: Handle case management, aftercare planning, and provide appropriate referrals for clients.
• Respond: Perform crisis management, risk assessments, and develop safety plans for clients.
• Collaborate: Work effectively within a multidisciplinary clinical treatment team and with various professionals.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled as a 2nd Year Master’s student or equivalent, pursuing a career in the mental health field.
• Experience: Available 24 hours per week, typically three days a week from 8:30 am to 5 pm, with a commitment to a full-year program.
• Skills: Proficiency in conducting clinical assessments, facilitating group therapy, performing case management, executing crisis management, and maintaining detailed recordkeeping.
