Job Description:

Title: Fall 2025 – Electric System Reliability Student Internship/Co-Op

This position offers a student the opportunity to work within the Electrical System Reliability team. The intern/co-op will assist in developing asset maintenance strategies for critical electrical equipment and provide technical support to the team.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Asset Management: Develop asset lists, equipment hierarchy, and support the development of schedules and monitoring tools using software packages like WorkMan, Cascade, SharePoint, and PowerBI.
NERC Program Support: Provide administrative and technical support for the Energy Supply NERC program.
Field Surveys: Conduct in-field surveys, collecting technical data, documentation, inspections, photos, and readings.
Project Assistance: Work with engineers and consultants/contractors on small-scale electrical projects, outages, and major maintenance jobs, including transformer refurbishments and the installation and commissioning of monitoring technologies and protective systems.
Electrical Testing: Conduct electrical testing reports reviews for critical assets and updating the health scores.
Documentation: Research drawings, reports, and manual documents, updating them as required, using tools such as AutoCAD.

Physical Location: Big Bend Power Station in Apollo Beach, FL.

Working Conditions: A combination of plant/field and office environment, with the possibility of exposure to dusty, hot, and noisy conditions.

Preferred Availability: Part-time (20-30 hours per week).

Qualifications:

Education: Enrolled in an accredited university as an undergraduate or graduate student in a related discipline.
Co-Op Requirements: Enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof required); if not eligible, the student will be considered an intern.
GPA: Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Degree: Engineering.
Preferred/Related Disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.

Engineering Computational Programming Languages: (i.e., C, Python, MatLab, etc.)
Microsoft Suite Applications: (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
