Job Description

Faculty Diversity Internship Program – Psychology

The College of the Siskiyous is seeking a highly motivated and equity-minded individual for a year-long, remote Faculty Intern in Psychology position. This internship is part of the College’s Faculty Diversity Internship Program (FDIP), designed to equip aspiring community college faculty with the essential skills and knowledge for excelling in online teaching. The program also aims to significantly enhance the diversity of the Siskiyous faculty and enrich the overall learning experience for students.

Key Dates:


First Application Review: February 15, 2026
Internship Begins: June 1, 2026
• Internship Duration: Academic Year 2026-2027

Compensation:


Interns will receive financial support throughout the program:
• A stipend of $1000 will be paid at the end of the Fall 2026 semester.
• During the Spring 2027 semester, interns will be paid $38.53 per hour for up to 7 hours of work per week.

Internship Overview and Activities:


This remote internship provides a comprehensive and hands-on experience, fully supported by mentorship and structured training:
Mentorship: Interns will meet regularly (approximately every 2 weeks) with a dedicated Faculty Mentor from the Siskiyous social science department throughout the 2026-2027 academic year.
Online Teaching Training (Summer & Fall 2026): Interns will complete approximately 80 hours of specialized online teaching training.
Hands-on Class Assistance (Spring 2027): Interns will gain practical experience by assisting with their mentor’s online class. This valuable experience may include:
• Developing assignments or online learning units.
• Actively participating in class discussions.
• Organizing and attending student study groups or tutoring sessions.
• Grading student work.
Professional Development: Interns will attend 1-2 workshops focused on relevant educational topics.
Portfolio Development: Interns will complete and present an online teaching portfolio, showcasing their developed skills and knowledge.

Candidate Requirements:


Prospective candidates must meet the following criteria:
Equity-Minded Focus: Demonstrate an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, sensitivity, and a deep understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Diversity Contribution: Articulate how their participation will actively contribute to increasing the diversity of the Siskiyous faculty and enrich students’ experiences.
Educational Background:
• Have recently obtained OR be an enrolled graduate student who has completed at least 50% of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology.
OR hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology AND have completed at least 50% of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in counseling, sociology, statistics, neuroscience, or social work.
