Job Title: Faculty Intern in Biology (Anatomy and Physiology)

Program: College of the Siskiyous Faculty Diversity Internship Program

Location: Remote

First Review Date: February 15, 2026

Internship Start Date: June 1, 2026

Internship Duration: Year-long (June 2026 – Spring 2027 academic year)

Compensation:

  • Stipend: $1000 at the end of the Fall 2026 semester.
  • Hourly Wage: $38.53 per hour for up to 7 hours of work per week during the Spring 2027 semester.

Program Overview & Mission:

The College of the Siskiyous is seeking a Faculty Intern in Biology (Anatomy and Physiology) for a year-long, remote internship. This program is designed to:

  • Provide aspiring community college faculty members with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in online teaching.
  • Increase the diversity of the Siskiyous faculty.
  • Enrich and improve students’ experiences.

Internship Activities & Responsibilities (2026-2027 Academic Year):

  • Mentorship: Regular meetings (approximately every 2 weeks) with a Faculty Mentor from the Siskiyous biology department throughout the 26-27 academic year.
  • Online Teaching Training (Summer & Fall 2026): Complete approximately 80 hours of dedicated online teaching training.
  • Hands-on Experience (Spring 2027): Assist with the mentor’s online class. This may involve:
    • Developing assignments or online learning units.
    • Participating in class discussions.
    • Organizing and attending student study groups or tutoring sessions.
    • Grading.
  • Professional Development: Attend 1-2 workshops.
  • Portfolio: Complete and present an online teaching portfolio.
  • Remote Fulfilment: All program requirements can be fulfilled remotely.

Candidate Requirements:

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Be able to describe how their participation will increase the diversity of the Siskiyous faculty and enrich Allied Health students’ experiences.
  • Meet one of the following educational qualifications:
    • Have recently obtained OR be an enrolled graduate student who has completed at least 50% of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in any biological science.
    • OR Possess a Bachelor’s degree in a biological science AND have completed at least 50% of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science.
