Key Dates & Timeline:
• FIRST REVIEW: February 15, 2026
• INTERNSHIP BEGINS: June 1, 2026
• INTERNSHIP DURATION: Year-long (Academic Year 2026-2027)

Compensation:
• Fall Semester Stipend: Interns will be paid a stipend of $1000 at the end of the Fall 2026 semester.
• Spring Semester Pay: Interns will be paid $38.53 per hour for up to 7 hours of work per week during the Spring 2027 semester.

Internship Overview & Purpose:
The College of the Siskiyous is seeking a Faculty Intern in biology (anatomy and physiology) for a year-long, remote internship. This program is specifically designed to:
• Provide aspiring community college faculty members with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in online teaching.
• Increase the diversity of the Siskiyous faculty.
• Enrich and improve the experiences of Siskiyous students, particularly those in Allied Health.

Internship Structure & Activities (Academic Year 2026-2027):
This is a remote internship where all program requirements can be fulfilled off-site.
• Mentorship: Interns will meet regularly (approximately every 2 weeks) with a Faculty Mentor from the Siskiyous biology department throughout the 2026-2027 academic year.
• Summer & Fall 2026 – Online Teaching Training: Interns will complete approximately 80 hours of online teaching training.
• Spring 2027 – Hands-on Experience: Interns will gain practical experience assisting with their mentor’s online class. This could involve:
• Developing assignments or online learning units.
• Participating in class discussions.
• Organizing and attending student study groups or tutoring sessions.
• Grading.
• Professional Development: Interns will also attend 1-2 workshops.
• Portfolio: Interns will complete and present an online teaching portfolio.

Candidate Requirements:
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Possess an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
• Clearly describe how their participation will increase the diversity of the Siskiyous faculty and enrich Allied Health students’ experiences in their application materials.
• Meet one of the following educational qualifications:
• Have recently obtained OR be an enrolled graduate student who has completed at least 50% of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in any biological science.
• Hold a Bachelor’s in a biological science AND have completed at least 50% of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science.
