Faculty Intern, Biology (Anatomy and Physiology)
The College of the Siskiyous is seeking a Faculty Intern in Biology (Anatomy and Physiology) for a year-long, remote internship. This program is specifically designed to provide aspiring community college faculty members with the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in online teaching.
This internship is a core component of the College of the Siskiyous Faculty Diversity Internship Program (FDIP), which also aims to significantly increase the diversity of the Siskiyous faculty and thereby enrich and improve the overall experiences of our students.
Key Dates & Application Timeline:
- FIRST REVIEW: February 15, 2026
- INTERNSHIP BEGINS: June 1, 2026
Compensation:
- Interns will receive a stipend of $1000 at the end of the fall semester (2026).
- During the spring semester (2027), interns will be paid $38.53 per hour for up to 7 hours of work per week.
Internship Structure & Responsibilities (2026-2027 Academic Year):
- Mentorship: The Biology Faculty Intern will meet regularly (approximately every 2 weeks) with a dedicated Faculty Mentor from the Siskiyous biology department throughout the 2026-2027 academic year.
- Summer and Fall 2026: Interns will complete approximately 80 hours of comprehensive online teaching training.
- Spring 2027: Interns will gain valuable hands-on experience assisting with their mentor’s online class. This could involve:
- Developing assignments or online learning units.
- Participating in class discussions.
- Organizing and attending student study groups or tutoring sessions.
- Grading.
- Professional Development: Interns will attend 1-2 workshops focused on online pedagogy and faculty development.
- Capstone Project: Interns will be required to complete and present an online teaching portfolio.
- Remote Format: All program requirements and activities can be fulfilled remotely.

Candidate Requirements:
Candidates must:
- Possess an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Clearly describe how their participation will increase the diversity of the Siskiyous faculty and enrich the experiences of Allied Health students.
- Meet one of the following educational qualifications:
- Have recently obtained or be an enrolled graduate student who has completed at least 50% of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in any biological science.
- OR possess a Bachelor’s degree in a biological science AND have completed at least 50% of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science.
