Job Description

Job Title: Faculty Diversity Internship Program – Psychology

The College of the Siskiyous (Siskiyous) is offering a unique, year-long, remote internship opportunity designed to cultivate future community college faculty members skilled in online teaching. This program is part of the College’s Faculty Diversity Internship Program, which aims to enhance the diversity of the Siskiyous faculty and enrich students’ educational experiences.

First Review Date: February 15, 2026
Internship Begins: June 1, 2026

Compensation:

  • A stipend of $1000 will be paid at the end of the fall semester (2026).
  • During the spring semester (2027), interns will be paid $38.53 per hour for up to 7 hours of work per week.

Internship Structure and Responsibilities (Academic Year 2026-2027):

  • Mentorship: Interns will meet regularly (approximately every 2 weeks) with a Faculty Mentor from the Siskiyous social science department throughout the academic year.
  • Summer and Fall 2026 (Training Phase):
    • Complete approximately 80 hours of online teaching training.
  • Spring 2027 (Hands-on Experience Phase):
    • Gain practical experience assisting with their mentor’s online class. This may involve:
      • Developing assignments or online learning units.
      • Participating in class discussions.
      • Organizing and attending student study groups or tutoring sessions.
      • Grading assignments.
    • Attend 1-2 workshops.
    • Complete and present an online teaching portfolio.
  • Remote Participation: All program requirements can be fulfilled remotely.

Candidate Requirements:

Prospective interns must demonstrate the following:

  • Possess an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Articulate how their participation will increase the diversity of the Siskiyous faculty and enrich students’ experiences.
  • Meet one of the following academic qualifications:
    • Have recently obtained or be an enrolled graduate student who has completed at least 50% of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology.
    • OR, hold a Bachelor’s in Psychology AND have completed at least 50% of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in counseling, sociology, statistics, neuroscience, or social work.
