Innovative Ag Services (IAS) is seeking talented individuals for their 2026 Facility Operations Summer Internship Program. This program is designed to develop future leaders in agriculture by providing comprehensive tools and resources to learn the intricacies of a cooperative and solidify career paths within the agricultural sector.

IAS is a full-service farm cooperative, proudly serving over 5,000 members with a complete line of supplies and services across grain, agronomy, feed, energy, and building supply markets. With 30 locations throughout northeast and central Iowa, and southwest Wisconsin, IAS is recognized as one of the Top Agricultural Cooperatives in Iowa.

Primary Objective:

To gain “hands-on” knowledge and experience in multiple areas of agriculture business while providing the company with operational support in a safe and effective manner, benefiting both IAS and its member-owners.

Day-to-Day Operational Duties & Training Opportunities:

Interns will engage in daily operational tasks and have potential training opportunities in a variety of key agricultural business areas, including:

  • Facility Operations: Operating crop nutrient and crop protection mixing and blending facilities, utilizing work orders and field maps.
  • Maintenance & Repair: Performing preventative maintenance and repair on location equipment and facilities.
  • Distribution & Logistics: Distributing farm supply products from IAS facilities to customers, including learning dispatching techniques.
  • Warehouse Management: Ensuring warehouse orderliness, housekeeping, and implementing inventory control techniques and procedures.
  • Agronomy Application: Accompanying and performing custom application practices and techniques of agronomy products, including precision technology.
  • Crop Scouting: Learning crop scouting techniques and procedures with a crop advisor or experienced crop scouting intern.
  • Sales & Marketing: Marketing Innovative Advanced Solutions alongside a member of the IAS Agronomy Advisor Team.
  • Precision Ag Technology: Participating in precision agriculture technology installations with an IAS Precision Ag Tech.
  • Grain Operations: Engaging in grain facility operations for both truck and rail houses, including receiving, blending, and load-out procedures.
  • Grain Quality & Merchandising: Weighing, probing samples of, and grading grain per industry standards. Learning about grain origination, settlement, and merchandising at location and/or grain merchandising offices.
  • Retail & Customer Service: Gaining experience in counter sales and store operations.
  • Safety & Compliance: Participating in company safety training and practicing safety policies & procedures in all assigned tasks.

Requirements Include:

  • Ability to obtain a Class A or B CDL with a hazmat endorsement or minimally a seasonal CDL. MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) must meet IAS insurance guidelines.
  • Strong people skills, excellent phone etiquette, ability to follow directions, and meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Adaptability:

  • Physical Demands: Requires static strength to lift, push, pull, or carry objects with a minimum weight of 50 pounds. Flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. Also requires trunk strength and the ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time. Some tasks involve repetitive motion.
  • Work Environment: Position is primarily within an agricultural environment, involving possible exposure to seasonal weather, outdoor conditions, and agricultural products.
  • Safety: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required for some tasks.
