What You’ll Actually Do
• Machine Setup and Maintenance: Set up and diligently maintain various machines within the shop, ensuring they are ready and functional for all pipe fabrication tasks. This involves preparation and upkeep necessary for efficient operation.
• Accurate Pipe Measurement and Inventory: Precisely measure and record random pipe lengths, then accurately add these to inventory counts to maintain correct stock levels and fulfill orders effectively.
• Comprehensive Pipe Processing: Execute a full range of pipe cutting and shaping operations, including measuring and cutting pipe using a band saw and/or torch, rolling and grooving single and double random lengths, and performing threading and beveling processes with Landis machines.
• Safe Material Handling: Efficiently move both loose and bundled pipe between various locations within the pipe yard, adhering strictly to Ferguson’s safe operating procedures and OSHA guidelines for powered industrial equipment.
• Order Assembly and Organization: Accurately assemble completed pipe orders, whether they consist of single sticks or larger bundles, and consistently maintain all work supplies in an organized manner to ensure a smooth workflow and readiness for shipment.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an early career position, ideal for individuals looking to start or advance their career in industrial fabrication.
• Experience: While this is an entry-level role, 1-2 years of fabrication experience is preferred. Additionally, experience and training in operating machinery for cutting and threading pipe, in accordance with OSHA regulations, is highly valued.
• Skills: Possess outstanding math skills, crucial for accurately calculating quantities of product on hand and ensuring precise measurements. A results-focused mindset is essential to thrive in a customer service environment. You must also demonstrate the ability to observe and uphold vital safety precautions for all fabrication, cutting, assembling, stacking, and shipping of pipe processes.
