About Honda’s Co-op/Internship Program:

About the Electrical Engineering Co-op/Intern Position:

This role offers multiple openings across various departments and locations. Work environments and projects may include:

Manufacturing: Focusing on equipment, processes, quality, and new model activities within different manufacturing departments (assembly, weld, paint, stamping, casting, machining, etc.). This could involve project management, problem analysis, investigating new technologies, implementing countermeasures, quality improvements, vehicle testing, developing testing procedures and fixtures, new model development, design change requests, warranty data analysis, and root cause analysis.

Facilities: Updating CAD drawings, analyzing and designing sanitation, HVAC, and building pressure systems, developing solutions for infrastructure problems, updating mechanical engineering specifications, and reviewing electrical drawings. Understanding plant power infrastructure and verifying electrical panel schedules are also included.

Tooling Equipment: Designing manufacturing equipment and tooling in 2D and 3D CAD systems, determining electrical hardware and software requirements, managing schedules, troubleshooting installation and manufacturing problems.

Research and Design: Assisting design engineers in developing automotive electrical wire harnesses and components, creating drawings, performing cost and weight calculations, attending meetings with various groups and suppliers, and supporting testing of automotive electrical systems (infotainment, chassis, engine, power window, sunroof, power tailgate, powerslide door systems, and safety systems). This includes problem and data analysis, countermeasure development, test setup, data acquisition, and reporting.

Required Currently pursuings:

• General engineering coursework
• Minimum 2.5 GPA
• Sophomore status (by credit hours) or above
• Availability to work a minimum of 10 weeks at 40 hours per week
• Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License (exceptions considered)
• Ability to secure own transportation to work

Desired Currently pursuings:

• AutoCAD experience
• Manufacturing-related coursework
