About the Job: Travel Staffing Nurse – Maynard Children’s Hospital
ECU Health is actively seeking experienced nurses to join their Travel Staffing team for 13-week assignments at the Maynard Children’s Hospital in Greenville, North Carolina. These opportunities offer premium compensation, flexible scheduling, and the support of a mission-driven healthcare system.
Job Title: Experienced Travel Staffing Nurse
Location: Maynard Children’s Hospital, Greenville, North Carolina
Unit Specific Opportunities Include:
• Pediatric Intensive Care (12 beds)
• Neonatal Intensive Care (Level IV – 26 beds; Level III – 24 beds; Level II (SCN) – 21 beds)
• Labor and Delivery (mentioned as an opportunity, though not specifically listed with bed count in the children’s hospital breakdown)
• Pediatric Inpatient Care (32 beds)
• Kids Immunosuppressed Specialty Unit (6 beds)
• Pediatric Rehabilitation (8 beds)
• Pediatric Palliative Care (1 bed)
• Opportunities are available across all inpatient units based on need.
Position Summary (Responsibilities):
The Travel Staffing Nurse is responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive nursing care in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing-Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, and ECU Health’s policies and standards. Key responsibilities include:
• Collecting and analyzing assessment data.
• Identifying expected outcomes and developing collaborative plans of care with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Implementing interventions to achieve expected outcomes.
• Evaluating patient/family progress and documenting the care process.
• Demonstrating sensitivity to age-specific and unique patient/family needs.
• Promoting and evaluating the effective functioning of the healthcare team.
• Collaborating with team members to meet patient/family needs throughout the episode of care.
• Delegating tasks and activities appropriately as governed by the NC Nurse Practice Act.
Minimum Requirements:
• Education: Diploma in Nursing, Associates in Nursing, or higher (BSN is preferred).
• Experience: 1+ year of nursing experience is required.
• Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required. ACLS is required for intensive or progressive care units as appropriate.
• Skills & Attributes:
• Flexibility in scheduling to meet the 24-hour needs of patients.
• Possess organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to utilize effective and confidential communication in patient, interdisciplinary, and staff relationships.
• Maintains stable performance levels under conditions of pressure and multiple demands.
• Working knowledge and experience with PC-based applications.
Compensation Package:
• Base Pay: Up to $70 per hour for all travel nursing positions.
• Overtime & Holiday Pay: 1.5x base hourly rate for hours over 40 and on holidays.
• Stand-by Pay: Additional $3.00 per hour.
• Charge/Preceptor Pay: Additional $2.00 per hour.
• Note: Travel Staffing positions are not eligible for health benefits, shifts or weekend differentials, incentive pay, PTO, or float pool differentials.
Additional Position Details:
• Assignment Duration: 13-week assignments with the option to extend at the discretion of the manager.
• Flexibility & Expectations: Travel team members are expected to float to other areas as needed, rotate shifts to meet department needs (including various 12-hour shifts like 7 a.m.-7 p.m., 7 p.m.-7 a.m., and others), adhere to required attendance for unit staff meetings, complete e-inform modules, and fulfill organizational continuing education requirements.
• Scheduling: Travel team members will use the scheduling system to manage their schedule, including non-duty/time-off requests.
• Eligibility: Applicants must not be currently employed by ECU Health or have been separated for less than 92 days, having left in good standing. Organizational policies will apply, notwithstanding specific Internal Travel Staffing Program details.
