Paralegal – Affordable Housing & Real Estate | Nixon Peabody LLP

This role provides essential support to attorneys, contributing to high-profile affordable housing transactions in the market.

• Mission: Provide critical support to attorneys in all phases of real estate transactions.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Title Reviewer: Review title documents, surveys, and commitments, then prepare and respond to title and survey objection letters.
• Transaction Coordinator: Perform due diligence, coordinate, and implement transactions to facilitate affordable housing closings.
• Issue Resolver: Work directly with title companies and surveyors to resolve issues and finalize title policies.
• Document Preparer: Prepare signature page packets and coordinate the execution of documents by various deal participants.
• Closing Support: Assist attorneys with closing logistics and preparation, including managing checklists and assembling documents.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and substantial experience as an experienced paralegal.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as an affordable housing or commercial real estate paralegal, with substantial title and survey experience including commitment review and exception resolution.
• Skills: Excellent organizational, analytical, critical thinking, drafting, and proof-reading skills, along with the ability to work independently.
• Bonus: Willingness and flexibility to learn and implement legal tech and AI tools as adopted by the team.
