Job Description:
Autism Speaks is seeking an Events Intern for the Summer semester. This is a 10-12 week remote internship program where students must be eligible to receive academic credit. The Events Intern will gain valuable event planning experience and play a role in assisting with the planning and execution of New York Area Events, including Golf Outings, Special Events, and Walks. At the end of this internship, the intern will have working knowledge of key event skills, including developing event timelines, planning processes, and community outreach which they will be able to translate into future career opportunities.
The Events Intern will report to the Area Executive Director. The ideal candidate should be looking to gain experience in Non-Profit Special Events for future work. The intern will receive necessary training and staff supervision.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with event logistics for events across downstate New York
• Assist in donor, sponsor and volunteer outreach and stewardship
• Assist with school outreach
• Assist with Area marketing and communications, including email and social media content
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
• Assist with two (2) silent auctions
Qualifications:
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree
• Able to receive class credit
• Commitment to a flexible work schedule of 20 hours per week during standard business hours
• Superior organizational and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to take initiative
• Excellent customer service skills in dealing with internal and external constituents
• Must have the ability to work with a team
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Social Media Technology
• This is a remote position, but applicant must live in downstate New York (Westchester or New York City)
