Job Description
This internship is for an Event Technology Intern, beginning in August and running through December. This role will assist with the setup and operation of audiovisual systems for live events, ensuring maximum client satisfaction. The intern will gain experience in the field, providing technical and sales support, or they might work as a corporate professional in one of the company’s offices. This position reports to field or corporate management.
The intern will be responsible for ensuring smooth event execution through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment. They will strive to exceed the expectations of internal and external customers by maintaining positive relationships, communicating effectively, meeting guests’ needs, monitoring events, and fostering a strong hotel-client relationship.
Additionally, the intern will demonstrate a technical understanding of the job, problem-solving equipment and software issues, and managing equipment changes in a professional manner. They will understand company processes, follow procedures, complete paperwork accurately, utilize equipment sheets, interact with staff and vendors, increase revenue through up-selling, finalize invoices, and complete order entries.
Applicants should be pursuing a BA/BS degree, preferably in Hospitality, Business, Media Production, Radio/TV/Film, or a related field. Prior experience in field audiovisual or customer service is preferred, along with demonstrated technical aptitude and the ability to work in a hotel location within a major metropolitan area. The ability to lift 50 lbs is required.
The work environment is in a hotel or convention center, with exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt, sand, and noise. The position involves using high-end audiovisual equipment and electrical components, and may require working at heights. Team members may work in multiple locations, with irregular hours and on-call status, including weekends and holidays. They must adhere to appearance guidelines defined by the company based on the specific hotel or city.
