Job Description: Event Operations Intern

Department: Event Operations
Reports To: Logistics Manager

Summary:

The Event Operations Intern will provide support for various tasks related to event planning and coordination at Lumen Field, Lumen Field Event Center, and WAMU Theater. A major aspect of the role involves collaborating with internal teams and external contractors to optimize efficiency and ensure client/guest safety and satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Planning and Coordination: Plan, coordinate, and manage all aspects of assigned events across the three venues.
Collaboration: Work with event clients and internal departments to develop operational plans, including event staffing, floor plans, food and beverage services, and equipment needs.
Financial Management: Develop and manage event budgets, from initial estimates to final settlements and payments.
Gameday Support: Assist with stadium gameday and event activities for major sporting events, concerts, and large-scale stadium events.
Event Coverage: Provide event coverage and serve as the on-duty Event Manager for multi-day events or move-in/move-out periods.
Special Projects: Complete assigned special projects and administrative tasks for the Director of Operations and the Event Operations team.
Job Shadowing: Opportunity to shadow and support other internal departments.
Client Relations: Serve as a knowledgeable and service-oriented representative of the Lumen Field complex to clients, vendors, and employees.

Education and Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled as a junior, senior, or recent graduate (within 6 months) from a college or university. Graduate students are also eligible.
• Professional demeanor and ability to build strong relationships with staff and clients.
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
• Comfort speaking in group settings and large meetings.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CAD layout design knowledge is preferred.
• Availability to work varying days and hours, including occasional overnight shifts.
• Ability to lift 20 pounds or more.

Physical Demands:

The job involves periods of sitting, standing, and walking, particularly during events and game days.

Work Environment:

The work environment includes both office and event settings.

Timeframe: July 2025 – End of July 2026 (30 hours per week on average)

Applicant Requirements:

• Must be a junior, senior, graduate student, or recent graduate (within six months).
• Must have authorization to work in the United States.
• Must be able to work 30 hours per week, including game days/nights, weekends, and other events.

Compensation: $22.75 per hour (Note: This rate may vary based on factors like education, experience, and skills.)
