About BGNL

Black Girls Need Love (BGNL) is a creative advocacy platform dedicated to supporting mental health, wellness, community, and advocacy specifically for Black girls and women. BGNL’s internship program provides practical experience in areas such as social media, event planning, outreach, and fundraising, all with the goal of advancing and sustaining the organization’s mission.

BGNL seeks creatives, advocates, college juniors, seniors, and recent graduates who are passionate about mental health, wellness, community, and advocacy for Black girls and women. This is an unpaid, 15-week internship offering professional development and personalized mentorship in a supportive and educational environment that prioritizes creativity and care.

Program Details:
Duration: One semester (August 25th, 2025 – December 5th, 2025), with an option to extend for a second semester based on performance.
Commitment: Flexible, requiring 5 to 8 hours per week (may vary by role), designed to accommodate academic and personal schedules.
Format: based in Atlanta, GA, offering both remote and in-person opportunities depending on the specific role.
Compensation: Unpaid internship; interns may serve up to two semesters.
Support: Includes personalized mentorship, verification of volunteer hours, and recommendation letters upon successful completion.
Roles: Available positions include Social Media Strategist, Content Creator, Event Operations, Community Outreach, and Fundraising.
Environment: Collaborative, values-driven, and centered on authenticity and community care.

Event Operations Intern

Role Summary:
The Event Operations Intern plays a crucial role in supporting BGNL’s events from the initial brainstorming phase through to execution. This involves assisting with budgeting, venue scouting, vendor coordination, volunteer management, and providing on-site event support.

Format:
Hybrid. Applicants must be based in or able to commute to Atlanta, GA.

Responsibilities:
• Help brainstorm and plan events that align with BGNL’s mission.
• Research potential venues, necessary rentals, and supplies.
• Manage event budgets and diligently track all expenses.
• Assist with the coordination and management of volunteers.
• Provide support during events, including setup, teardown, and troubleshooting any issues that arise.

• Is detail-oriented, with a preference for candidates who have budget tracking experience.
• Comfortable working effectively with diverse teams and volunteers.
