Job Title: Event Coordinator & Team Member
Location: Store – PALM BEACH-ROYAL PALM BEACH, FL
Job Summary
As an Event Coordinator & Team Member at Michaels, you will play a crucial role in creating memorable experiences for our guests by planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of in-store events, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes. Beyond event management, you will also deliver friendly customer service by assisting shoppers, ensuring fast and efficient checkouts, and completing essential operational tasks such as truck unload, merchandise stocking, and maintaining store recovery standards. Your primary goal is to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging environment that embodies our Brand Promises.
Key Responsibilities
Event Coordination
- Plan and Coordinate: Manage multiple events concurrently, including children’s birthday parties and diverse craft classes or workshops.
- Guest Engagement: Create an environment of fun and creativity, engaging clients of all ages (from 4 to 94+).
- Instruction & Facilitation: Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft project completion, perform face painting, and lead other activities.
- Party Add-ons: Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc., adhering to company standards.
- Communication: Clearly communicate event details with clients and store team members.
- Administrative Tasks: Complete necessary administrative duties including answering emails, making phone calls, and managing paperwork.
- Adaptability: Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and evolving needs.
- Contingency Planning: Develop and execute backup or emergency plans as required.
- Client Satisfaction: Ensure high levels of client satisfaction for all scheduled events.
- Cleanliness & Safety: Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards, including setting up, breaking down, and cleaning before and after each event.
Customer Experience & Store Operations
- Customer Assistance: Help customers shop, locate products, and provide them with creative solutions.
- Checkout Service: Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience for all customers.
- Program Enrollment: Engage customers on the benefits of the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, and complete enrollments.
- Feedback Collection: Educate customers on the Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
- Omnichannel Support: Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
- Merchandise Handling: Participate in truck un-load, stocking, and planogram (POGs) processes.
- Store Recovery: Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance duties.
- Inventory Management: Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
- Loss Prevention & Safety: Support shrink and safety programs.
- Compliance: Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements; execute Company policies and standards.
- Team Collaboration: Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner; remain positive and respectful, even in difficult situations; promote commitment to the organization’s vision and values; project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members.
- Cross-Training: Be cross-trained in Custom Framing selling and production.
- Store Cleanliness: Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including (but not limited to) sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining the cleanliness of restrooms.

- Experience with Children: Must have experience working with children and organizing children’s events.
- Communication Skills: Must have good communication skills, including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication, as well as active listening skills.
- Organizational & Problem-Solving: Must possess organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Retail/Customer Service: Retail and/or customer service experience required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Physical Demands:
- Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to move throughout the store.
- Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
- Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.

- Work Environment:
- Public retail store setting focused on customer service.
- All public areas are climate controlled; some stock rooms may not be climate controlled.
- Some outdoor work may be required if assigned to retrieve shopping carts or while unloading trucks.
- Frame shop contains a glass cutter and heat press.
- Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.
