Job Description: Estimating Intern
This internship offers the opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the development of Disney’s world-renowned theme park experiences. As an Estimating Intern, you will be responsible for preparing estimates for facilities, shows, and rides throughout various project lifecycles. You will work under the guidance of a Project Senior or Principal Estimator and gain valuable experience in the following:
• Review and incorporate historical cost data: Analyze purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, and other relevant sources to refine cost estimations.
• Prepare estimates: Calculate complete takeoffs for project scopes of work and assist in developing comprehensive cost estimates.
• Maintain documentation: Organize and maintain files for all working documents and data to support estimate figures.
• Evaluate design documentation: Analyze design documentation, identify trends, and provide estimations and analyses against current project budgets during the design phase.
Essential Qualifications:
• Knowledge of estimating techniques and cost controls: Understand various estimating methods and cost control strategies.
• Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems: Familiarity with cost-related software and data analysis.
• Proficiency in PC programs: Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills: Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of management, project team members, contractors, and subcontractors to achieve team goals.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings: Understand and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Relevant estimating experience: Prior experience in estimating for construction or similar projects.
• Active membership in industry related organizations: Involvement in relevant professional organizations like the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE).
Required Education:
• Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher or must have graduated within the past 6 months from an accredited college/university.
• Major in Construction Management/Engineering, Architecture, or Engineering.
Internship Eligibility:
• Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter prior to the internship OR have graduated within the past 6 months OR be participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship.
• Must have full work availability for the duration of the internship.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization.
Location: Glendale, CA
Program Length: January 2025 through June 2025
Housing: Must be able to provide your own housing for the duration of the internship.
Transportation: Must be able to provide or have reliable transportation to and from work.
Compensation:
• The pay rate for this role in Glendale, California is $30 per hour for undergraduate students, $35 per hour for graduate students.
