Job description, detailed
This is a Federal Work-Study position within the Sports and Fitness Department at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD), with a salary of $12.00 per hour. The role involves supporting the operations of the esports center and providing general assistance to the Office of Student Activities.

Key Responsibilities:
Esports Center Management: Ensure adherence to esports center rules, maintain cleanliness of the area, assist in giving guided tours, and perform opening and closing procedures, including following all UHD emergency protocols.
Administrative Support: Answer and assist with department phone calls, perform general clerical duties such as copying, filing, distributing mail, and data entry.
Customer Service & Interaction: Professionally interact with all levels of university personnel, students, faculty, staff, and the general public, providing assistance as needed.
Marketing & Community Engagement: Assist with social media posts and online community discussion boards, and support events and initiatives sponsored by the Office of Student Activities.
Operational Support: Run errands within university campus buildings, assist office staff as needed, and serve as backup for the Student Activities department.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Professionalism & Interpersonal Skills: Must have the ability to multitask and interact professionally with staff, faculty, and students. Requires good people skills, a professional attitude and appearance, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Technical Proficiency: Must be familiar with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with various video game systems such as Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, and PC is essential.
Personal Attributes: The ideal candidate will be well organized, responsible, punctual, and a self-starter.

Qualifications:
• Must be a current UHD student.
• Must be eligible for Federal Work-Study.
