Job Description
Job Title: Environmental Intern or Co-op
Location: New York, NY
Job Summary:
Langan is seeking an Environmental Intern or Co-op to join its collaborative team. This individual will play a key role in assisting with environmental-related technical aspects of diverse land development projects, ranging from small to large scale. The intern/co-op will have the opportunity to partner directly with environmental leadership, gaining exposure to various project phases including site feasibility studies, which may involve field work, technical report preparation, calculations, pre-construction conditions documentation, and design plans and specifications.
Job Responsibilities:
• Assist with the planning and execution of field investigations, including logging borings, collecting samples, performing field tests, and collecting and recording data.
• Monitor construction projects by conducting various tests to evaluate contractor or subcontractor compliance with job specifications.
• Identify solutions to field and/or laboratory problems and accurately document results.
• Prepare reports documenting field investigations and analytical results.
• Prepare a variety of standard logs and field forms, such as drilling logs, field investigation dailies, and chain of custody logs.
• Learn data management and modeling tools for environmental media, how to perform engineering analyses, and how to properly use field equipment.
• Conduct file reviews, site reconnaissance, and prepare related reports.
• Prepare laboratory data summary tables and figures.
• Effectively use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on project planning and design.
• Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
• Student actively pursuing a four-year or advanced degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities.
• Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment.
• Working knowledge of GIS or environmentally related software, and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation and Benefits:
• Estimated Hourly Range: $22 – $29. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
• Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm’s annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm.
• Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time, and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
