Job Description: Environmental Health & Safety Generalist Associate 2025
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree (or pursuit of a Master’s degree) in engineering, ergonomics/human factors, occupational safety, environmental sciences, fire safety, safety, or a related field, with graduation between December 2024 and May 2025. The role involves providing subject matter expertise aligning with environmental, health, and safety regulations. The successful candidate will help develop, implement, and maintain processes and programs compliant with federal, state, and local regulations.
Responsibilities include:
• Emergency Response: Building effective emergency response plans, training the workforce, coordinating test plans, and validating emergency action plans.
• Training: Determining suitable training content and delivery methods, conducting gap assessments to identify training needs, and adjusting curriculum to reflect site-specific needs.
• Incident Investigation: Participating in incident investigations, partnering with internal and external specialists or regulatory authorities to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
• Audits and Inspections: Preparing for and supporting the execution of company audits, governmental inspections, and customer visits.
• Performance Monitoring: Identifying data and reports needed to supervise performance and compliance against goals.
• Contractor Risk Management: Understanding risks associated with contractors and external service providers, implementing, overseeing, and evaluating approved processes to control those risks.
• Hazard Management: Implementing and owning processes for hazard identification and risk management.
• Other duties as assigned.
The position may involve supervising up to three highly hazardous processes and will handle issues ranging from basic (with supervisor support) to more sophisticated matters (requiring escalation to supervisors or tenured staff). The role will be based in a low-complexity facility or supporting a higher-complexity facility. The position requires the ability to work in a plant setting and a willingness to relocate.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (or pursuit of a Master’s degree) in a relevant field (graduation between December 2024 and May 2025).
• Right to work in the U.S. (not based solely on a student visa or a third-party employer-sponsored visa).
• Willingness and ability to relocate.
• Strong communication skills (written and oral).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with diverse individuals and cultures.
• Knowledge of food safety standards.
• Knowledge of science and math.
• Ability to build and collaborate on processes, utilizing company resources effectively.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in Environmental Health & Safety.
Job Locations: Dodge City, KS. Potential business areas include Salt, Cargill Agricultural Supply Chain, North America (CASC NA), Protein, and Cargill Starches, Sweeteners and Texturizers (CSST).
Compensation: The expected salary is $68,000 (not adjusted for geographic differentials). A comprehensive benefit program is offered.
