Environmental Health and Safety Intern | SIG SAUER, Inc.

The Tone:
This is an Environmental Health and Safety Internship at SIG SAUER, Inc., based in Newington, New Hampshire. The intern will directly assist in maintaining and developing essential health, safety, and environmental control systems that are vital to supporting over 3,400 employees and numerous facilities.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person, Newington, NH

• Mission: To assist in preserving employee health and safety and protecting the environment through supporting existing systems and compliance efforts.

What You’ll Actually Do
Waste Compliance Management: Support adherence to Hazardous and Universal Waste regulations, including practical involvement such as the movement of drums.
Safety Training Program Development: Assist in creating and updating essential safety training modules, encompassing hazard communications and new employee safety orientation.
Specialized Safety Education: Contribute to the development and preparation of specialized training sessions focused on critical areas like lead awareness, hearing conservation, and hazardous waste procedures.
Emergency Preparedness Training: Help in crafting and organizing vital emergency preparedness programs, including fire extinguisher use, CPR and first aid certification, and bloodborne pathogens training.
Regulatory and System Support: Provide crucial assistance in maintaining existing systems related to plant safety, environmental control processes, and regulatory compliance.
Administrative Duties: Perform various office functions and other assigned duties to support the overall operational efficiency of the Environmental Health and Safety department.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career, currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety.
• Experience: Foundational knowledge commensurate with college-level study in Environmental Health and Safety, or equivalent practical experience in the domain.
• Skills: Understanding of hazardous/universal waste regulations, ability to assist in developing and delivering safety training materials, general office administration skills.
