This is an opportunity for a paid EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) Co-op student for Spring 2026, which includes a housing stipend.
Job Title: Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Co-op student opportunity
Term & Type of Employment:
• A minimum of a 3-month assignment.
• Alternatively, part-time employment (20+ hours/week) for 6 months also qualifies.
• The position is paid and includes a housing stipend.
EHS Co-op Student Summary:
The EHS Co-op will be involved in job assignments directly related to their functional environmental or safety discipline.
Essential Functions:
The EHS Co-op student will engage in practical applications of their academic knowledge, including:
• Applying EHS principles learned in school to hands-on situations.
• Collaborating with the hourly workforce to address daily safety concerns.
• Developing Department Hazard Maps.
• Reviewing existing Environmental / Safety Policies, Procedures, and Programs.
• Conducting Respirator Fit Testing.
• Performing a Plant-wide Hearing Conservation Survey.
• Gathering and researching Safety Data for the Safety Department.
• Conducting Confined Space Entry Evaluations.
• Performing Job Safety Analyses (JSA) for various processes and tasks.
• Working on diverse environmental projects.
• Attending safety training sessions and other relevant educational opportunities (e.g., Jefferson County Safety Council Luncheon, Emergency Response & Fire Brigade).
• Other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Performing daily safety inspections.
• Bringing any safety concerns to the attention of the Safety Department.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
• Must be a full-time student actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in an Environmental or Safety discipline.
Special Skills:
• Possession of knowledge related to environmental, health, and safety engineering practice and regulatory compliance (including EPA, OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, etc.).
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, and Visio.

• Candidates must provide proof of US citizenship, nationality, and/or permanent resident status to ensure compliance with all applicable export and import laws and regulations.
