Job Title: Fall 2025 Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Co-op Student

Employment Type & Duration:
Paid opportunity with a housing stipend.
• A minimum of a 3-month assignment.
Part-time employment (20+ hours/week) for 6-months also qualifies.

EHS Co-op Student Summary:
The EHS Co-op will work on job assignments directly related to their functional environmental or safety discipline. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience by applying EHS principles learned in an academic setting to real-world situations.

Essential Functions:
Apply learned EHS principles to practical, hands-on situations.
Collaborate with the hourly workforce to address daily safety concerns.
Create Department Hazard Maps.
Review existing Environmental / Safety Policies, Procedures, and Programs.
Perform Respirator Fit Testing.
Conduct a Plant-wide Hearing Conservation Survey.
Gather and research safety data for the Safety Department.
Conduct Confined Space Entry Evaluations.
Perform Job Safety Analyses (JSA) for various processes and tasks.
Work on various environmental projects.
Attend safety training sessions and other relevant educational opportunities (e.g., Jefferson County Safety Council Luncheon, Emergency Response & Fire Brigade).

Additional Responsibilities:
Perform daily safety inspections.
Report safety concerns to the Safety Department.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
• Must be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in an Environmental or Safety discipline.

Special Skills:
Knowledge of related environmental, health, and safety engineering practice and regulatory compliance (specifically EPA, OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, etc.).
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.
