Program Description
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, headquartered in Akron, Ohio, is actively seeking talented leaders to enhance its global leadership depth and contribute to the organization’s current and future success. The co-op/intern Program offers students practical work experience in a variety of diverse areas, providing a comprehensive understanding of the various job opportunities available throughout Goodyear.
In addition to challenging, engaging, and interesting work assignments, students will have the opportunity to meet and interact with peers from other universities both at work and during social activities. Tours of Goodyear facilities are arranged to help students gain further insight into the business. Goodyear leaders actively engage with students, encouraging them to consider significant business issues and explore career options. Students even have the unique opportunity to speak with the Goodyear Senior Leadership Team.
Function Overview and Project Task/Responsibilities
We are looking for talented leaders to strengthen our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs and play an integral role in the current and future success of the organization. This position will be responsible for supporting regional and plant-level projects associated with environmental health and safety. The completion of these activities will occur within an office and/or manufacturing environment.
Examples of activities will include but are not limited to:
- Performing physical inspections and audits
- Creating EHS-related programs
- Analysis of EHS-related data and the communication of recommendations
- Investigation of EHS-related incidents
- Chemical inventory reviews
- Preparation of reports to management
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health and Safety Management, or any other relevant area
- Minimum 3.0 overall GPA required
- Mobility & availability for relocation out of state required
- Expected graduation within 1-2 years of internship
- Prior engineering co-op/internship experience preferred
- Fundamental knowledge of OSHA regulations, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene preferred
- Demonstrated leadership and strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word a must
