Job Description: Full-Time Environmental Engineering Intern – Summer 2026
This opportunity is part of WSP USA’s extensive internship program, which hosts hundreds of internships nationwide. The program aims to provide interns with hands-on, meaningful work experience that enhances their education and professional aptitude. Interns will gain exposure to real projects and work directly alongside senior staff. Additionally, through the Developing Professionals Network, interns receive mentorship, networking opportunities, and the chance to build lifelong career connections.
Position Details:
• Team: Earth and Environment Team
• Position Type: Full-Time, Temporary Environmental Engineering Intern
• Location: Morristown, NJ office
• Target Audience: Individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program
• Program: Part of the WSP Summer Internship Program
• Duration: 12-week program, scheduled to start on May 18th, 2026 (individual start date may be flexible).

Key Responsibilities (Your Impact):
As an Environmental Engineering Intern, you will:
• Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal of developing technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Environmental Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications (Who You Are):
Required Qualifications:
• Enrollment: Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil or Environmental Engineering or related, Undergraduate program.
• Graduation Date: Anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
• Age: Must be 18 or older.
• Interest: Demonstrated interest in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or a related field, and a strong desire to advance skills relevant to WSP’s work and projects.
• Communication: Competent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of expressing ideas effectively and professionally to both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Work Ethic: Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
• Technical Proficiency: Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Safety & Conduct: Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
• Work Authorization: Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
• Travel: Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
• Screening: Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Higher Education: Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related, Masters or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
• Experience: Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.
Compensation:
• The expected salary range for this position across all locations is $20.91 – $29.73 per hour. This range is based on various factors including the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
