Lensa is a career site partnering with Casella Waste Systems to recruit for an Environmental Compliance Intern in Old Town, ME.
Position Summary:
The Environmental Compliance Intern will work with the Permits, Compliance, & Engineering (PC&E) team supporting various projects related to air/waste/water permitting, engineering construction, and environmental compliance. This internship provides an opportunity to apply engineering principles in practical settings through technical report preparation, engineering design review, environmental sample collection, field activity documentation, and data analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
• Participate in field site visits, collect data, and analyze findings, producing technical reports, data tables, and visual aids.
• Research and summarize environmental regulations and recommend applicability for facilities.
• Collaborate with facility management to maintain permits by preparing applications and managing documentation.
• Participate in engineering design, contractor procurement, and construction management meetings and site visits.
• Compile, organize, and analyze engineering and capital construction costs.
• Assist in developing and implementing new or revised environmental programs and policies.
• Participate in training opportunities to expand knowledge of the company.
Education, Experience & Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related degree program.
• Legally eligible to work in the US.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel among company facilities.
