The U.S. Army Environmental Command (AEC) is offering a Summer/Fall 2025 Environmental Compliance and Science internship at Fort Drum, New York. This internship is administered by Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE).

What You’ll Do:

As an ORISE participant, under the guidance of a mentor, you will be involved in tasks related to environmental compliance management. This will focus on hazardous waste, solid waste, and air pollution on Fort Drum. You will also have the opportunity to develop and carry out small-scale projects, depending on individual interests. This includes exposure to day-to-day activities, special projects, and participation in meetings to understand how management decisions are made.

About Fort Drum:

Fort Drum is a 108,000+ acre US Army installation in northern New York. It is managed by a professional natural resources staff concerned with forests and grasslands, invasive plants, endangered species, wetlands, fish/wildlife management, human-wildlife conflict, recreation, and outreach.

Eligibility Requirements:

• U.S. Citizen Only
• Earned high school diploma or GED by June 30, 2025, and be currently pursuing or have earned within the last 60 months an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in an Applied Science.
• Minimum Overall GPA: 3.00
• Must be 18 years of age
• Possess either a Real ID or a passport
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
