Job Description: Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety and Industrial Hygiene Co-op/Intern
This co-op/internship program offers opportunities in various departments within Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, and Industrial Hygiene. Work environments and projects vary, but may include:
Manufacturing related tasks:
• Project management
• Problem analysis
• Investigating and implementing new technologies
• Reviewing existing equipment and specifying requirements for new equipment
• Conducting and documenting ergonomic evaluations
• Evaluating new model processes to minimize ergonomic risks
• Reviewing “Routine vs. Non-Routine” activities in production and maintenance
• Supporting special projects (e.g., new model launches, process modifications)
Environmental related tasks:
• Preparing Hazardous Chemical Inventory reports (Ohio EPA)
• Tracking chemical use and waste generation
• Analyzing waste samples
• Updating Title V Air Permit Applications
• Managing MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets)
• Scheduling and tracking associate respiratory and audiometric testing
• Conducting breathing air testing
• Various sampling projects (e.g., lead paint sampling, lead air concentration simulations)
Safety Services related tasks:
• Planning, collecting, processing, and communicating Industrial Hygiene samples (air and noise)
• Supporting company safety program development and training (confined space, respiratory protection, personal protective equipment, lead compliance, hearing conservation)
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 2.5 GPA
• Sophomore status (by credit hours) or higher in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Availability to work a minimum of 10 weeks at 40 hours per week.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License (exceptions considered). Reliable transportation is crucial.
• Ability to provide current transcript.
Desired Qualifications:
• Introductory environmental studies coursework
• Safety-related coursework
• Manufacturing-related coursework
