About the Internship

Our Earth and Environment Team is actively seeking a full-time Environmental Business Management Intern for the Summer 2026 program. This temporary position will be based out of our San Diego, CA office and is designed for individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program.

This is a 12-week internship experience, part of the comprehensive WSP Summer Internship Program, officially scheduled to commence on May 18th, 2026. Please note that individual start dates may offer some flexibility.

Please be aware that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.

Key Responsibilities & Impact

As an Environmental Business Management Intern, your impact will include:

  • Supporting a variety of essential business functions, including financial management, proposal development, and invoicing tasks, with the overarching goal of developing your technical, social, and ethical skills.
  • Assisting with report writing and the monitoring of socioenvironmental programs.
  • Contributing to various tasks related to environmental and social impact studies.
  • Learning fundamental principles of Environmental Science and Climate Resiliency practices.
  • Assisting with project research, field work, and preliminary data analysis and reporting.
  • Supporting data analysis and management efforts using tools such as Excel and Python.
  • Assisting in GIS analysis and data preparation.
  • Helping with the collection and maintenance of crucial project documentation.
  • Completing required training on assigned tasks to enhance your skill set.
  • Exercising responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, consistently adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Performing additional responsibilities as required by evolving business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Currently actively enrolled in an accredited Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a closely related Undergraduate program.
  • Possess an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older at the start of the internship.
  • Demonstrated strong interest in Environmental Science or a related field, coupled with a genuine desire to advance skills pertinent to WSP’s work and projects.
  • Possess competent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective and professional interaction and expression of ideas to both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Capable of taking clear direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to successfully execute projects.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation software, spreadsheets, general technology, and relevant tools.
  • Strong background in desktop research, particularly regarding environmental data and literature.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and the ability to strictly abide by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience using MS Office Suite programs.
  • Previous internship experience and demonstrated leadership involvement on campus.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $19.57 – $26.98 per hour

WSP USA is providing this compensation range, which the company, in good faith, believes it might pay and offer for this position. This range is based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
