Entry Level Release of Information (ROI) Specialist | Datavant

The Tone:
This is a full-time, remote role at Datavant, the data collaboration platform trusted for healthcare. This position is critical for securely and accurately processing medical record requests, safeguarding patient privacy, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations like HIPAA. By enabling the secure and accessible use of health data, this role contributes directly to improving health outcomes.

The TL;DR

• Pay: $15–$18.32 hourly
• Mission: This person processes medical record requests, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with privacy regulations to protect patient information.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Company and facility software, EHR and Billing Systems (familiarity preferred)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Process: Receive and process patient health information requests in accordance with Company and Facility policies and procedures.
• Safeguard: Maintain confidentiality and security of all privileged information, ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards and guarding against unauthorized disclosure.
• Manage: Organize and manage patient health records, including preparing new patient charts and creating digital images for the electronic medical record.
• Respond: Answer inbound/outbound calls and respond to requests for patient records from both internal facility staff and external sources.
• Document: Accurately document information across multiple platforms, often utilizing two computer monitors, to maintain comprehensive records.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High School Diploma or GED; Entry-Level career focused on medical record processing and patient privacy.
• Experience: Ability to work in a high-volume environment; comfortable utilizing phones, fax machine, printers, and other general office equipment on a regular basis. Experience processing various medical record requests such as Insurance, DDS, Workers Comp, and Subpoenas.
• Skills: Professional verbal and written communication skills in English; strong data entry skills; detail and quality-oriented approach to ensuring accurate and compliant information for medical records; basic computer proficiency.
• Bonus: Knowledge of HIPAA and medical terminology; familiarity with different EHR and Billing Systems; experience working with subpoenas; previous experience in a healthcare environment or production/metric-based work.
