Work Model: How You’ll Work

This role operates under a Hybrid Work Solution. You will be required to work on-site in our office from Tuesday through Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on other days.

About the Role: What You’ll Do as an ERM Intern

As an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Intern, you will play a crucial supporting role within the organization’s ERM function. Your primary objective will be to assist in the comprehensive identification, meticulous assessment, and continuous monitoring of various risks that could potentially impact AAA Life’s strategic objectives. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in corporate governance, compliance, and strategic risk management within a dynamic financial services environment. The work assigned will be structured and performed under direct supervision, providing a clear learning path.

Key Responsibilities: Your Role Will Require You To

  • Work Independently and Collaboratively: Demonstrate the ability to manage tasks independently while also effectively collaborating within a supportive team environment to achieve shared goals.
  • Data Management and Analysis: Actively collect, meticulously organize, and thoroughly analyze risk-related data, transforming raw information into actionable insights.
  • Risk Indicator Development Support: Assist business unit management in the crucial development of key risk indicators (KRIs) and control indicators (KCIs). You will also support the creation of strategic plans designed to prevent, eliminate, and mitigate operational risks through in-depth root cause analysis.
  • Risk Reporting Assistance: Provide essential support in gathering necessary data and compiling key metrics to contribute to the development of comprehensive and insightful risk reports for various stakeholders.
  • Emerging Risk Research: Conduct proactive research on emerging risks, staying abreast of evolving industry trends, and monitoring regulatory changes that could potentially impact the organization’s risk profile and operations.
  • Application Inventory and Control Support: Provide support in the development and maintenance of the end-user application inventory and the establishment of related controls, ensuring adherence to security and operational standards.
  • Process Improvement Contributions: Actively contribute to and participate in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the overall Enterprise Risk Management program.
  • Meeting and Training Participation: Attend internal and external meetings to discuss risk assessments, risk mitigation strategies, and participate in relevant training sessions to continuously expand your knowledge and skills in ERM.

Qualifications: What We’re Looking For

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Academic Enrollment: Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in good academic standing, either entering or already enrolled in your junior or senior year.
  • Educational Background: Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Management, Risk Management, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a closely related discipline.
  • Academic Performance: Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel (for data analysis), Word (for documentation), and PowerPoint (for presentations).
  • Communication Skills: Possess effective written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear and concise interaction with colleagues and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, facilitating effective collaboration and networking.
  • Interest in ERM: A genuine interest in enterprise risk management, compliance, or related business functions, indicating a passion for the field.
