About the Job: Engineering Internship Program
Xcimer Energy is offering a 12-week engineering internship program designed to provide hands-on experience in the design and construction of cutting-edge laser-driven inertial fusion hardware and software. Interns will play an integral role in developing the systems required for the world’s first commercial fusion energy power plant.
Program Details:
• Duration: 12 weeks.
• Location: Xcimer Energy headquarters in Denver, CO.
• Mentorship: Interns will work alongside an industry expert mentor.
• Focus: Tackle complex, real-world challenges.
• Disciplines: Multiple internship opportunities are available across various fields, including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, and Software Development.
• Application Close Date: October 1, 2025.
Potential Responsibilities (vary based on intern’s expertise and interests):
• Mechanical design and hardware development.
• Mechanical and thermal analysis using finite element analysis (FEA).
• Systems engineering.
• Manufacturing engineering.
• Electrical engineering (specifically pulsed power).
• Control systems engineering.
• Computational and software engineering (including simulations).
• Nuclear engineering.
• Optical engineering.
• Plasma physics.
Qualifications:
• Education: Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree program from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or another related engineering discipline.
• Practical Experience: Demonstrated application of technical skills outside of the classroom (e.g., extracurricular projects, volunteering, personal projects, laboratory research, or prior internship/work experience).
• Software Proficiency: Proficiency in CAD software for 3D modeling and simulation.
• Communication Skills: Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Passion: A strong passion for fusion energy.
• Availability: Ability to work full-time onsite for the entire 12-week duration of the internship program in Denver, CO.
• Citizenship/Residency: Must be a U.S. citizen or national, a U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Compensation (Internship Hourly Rates):
• Undergraduate intern: $25/hr
