About the Role: Software Engineering Intern
An intern joining our Software Engineering team will play a crucial role in completing basic end-to-end software engineering tasks. You will work within established guidelines set by the team to independently tackle well-scoped problems and continuously seek opportunities to expand your technical knowledge and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform basic analysis, development, testing, debugging, and configuration.
• Conduct incident investigation, documentation, and set up health monitoring/alerting.
• Implement solutions based on user or system design specifications.
• Contribute to day-to-day objectives with moderate impact on the work area.
• Work with direct supervision on projects and assignments, setting objectives for your own area of responsibility.
• Address general problems and issues, applying discretion and judgment based on prior experiences and issue analysis.
• Make minor changes or enhancements in systems and processes to improve effectiveness.
Communicate effectively with parties within and outside of your team.
• Explain work area policies, practices, and procedures, influencing decision-makers with recommended courses of action.
Troubleshoot simple engineering problems by effectively using logs, developer tools, and debuggers.
• Design and implement solutions of light to moderate complexity using existing knowledge of algorithms, structures, and patterns.
• Objectively evaluate personal goal achievement, communicate effectively in meetings, and complete work or raise roadblocks in a timely manner.
• Be open to change and learning new skills, accepting feedback graciously, and showing respect towards other team members.

Required Technical Knowledge, Skills & Education:

Education:
• Student must be currently enrolled in a four-year accredited university program.

Core Technical Skills:
• Effectively uses code version control systems such as Git.
• Understands basic programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
• Understands core application development patterns.
• Experienced using data structures.
• Familiar with traditional data stores.
• Familiar with REST API syntax and tools for documenting and testing REST APIs such as Swagger and Postman.
• Familiar with Agile methodology.
• Theoretical knowledge of the work area.
• Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision.
• Displays strong work ethic.
• Understands direction provided and implements assigned tasks effectively.
• Displays project/team level impact.

Preferred Technologies/Experience:
• Experience using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Familiar with Microfrontends and Microservices.
• Experience with React.
• Experience with SQL Server and writing Stored Procedures.
• Experience using Azure Cloud Services and Azure Dev-Ops.
• Knowledge of .NET Framework 4.x and .NET Core 3.x.
• Experience using Visual Studio utilizing the C# programming language.

Compensation & Employment Details:
• Interns are paid through our Managed Service Provider Program and are not direct employees of Eversource.
Pay rates are hourly, based on year of graduation and whether the role is technical or non-technical. Rates start at $18.12 for a non-technical freshman and go up to $41.82 for a technical PhD.

Emergency Response: Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment.
