Job Title: Engineering Intern – Residential Outdoor

Location: Fort Smith, AR (US Air Division)

Job Type: Part-time Internship (not summer-only)

Hours: Approximately 15-20 hours per week while in school; additional hours available during breaks. Requires in-person interaction.

Job Overview:

As an Engineering Intern at Rheem’s US Air Division, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Residential Outdoor product lines. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in an R&D environment, working alongside senior engineers on a daily basis. You will contribute to various stages of product development, from initial testing and validation to new product introduction and sustainability initiatives. This is a hands-on role where you will help organize control systems, manage Bill of Material structures, and assist with prototype unit buildups, all while learning from industry experts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior engineers with day-to-day activities within the Research & Development (R&D) department.
  • Contribute to new product introduction (NPI) initiatives, helping bring innovative solutions to market.
  • Support sustainability efforts for existing product lines, focusing on environmental impact and efficiency.
  • Participate in cost improvement projects to enhance product value and operational efficiency.
  • Provide assistance with production-related projects, bridging the gap between design and manufacturing.
  • Engage in field quality projects, analyzing performance and reliability of products in real-world scenarios.
  • Assist with lab testing, including setting up and validating units to ensure performance standards.
  • Support the launch planning for new product categories.
  • Learn and apply best practices for managing technical data as requested by engineers.
  • Help develop technical literature for field application, ensuring clear communication of product specifications and usage.
  • Assist with regulatory compliance and data analysis as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated interest or prior experience in product design.
  • Basic understanding of fundamental engineering principles, such as thermodynamics, statics, or electronics.
  • Strong planning skills with the ability to organize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Good presentation skills to articulate ideas and findings clearly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and computer skills, proficient in software such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
