Engineering Intern – Manufacturing | Nortech
The Tone:
This is a summer internship at Nortech, located in Bemidji, MN. Nortech focuses on designing, manufacturing, and testing various electro-mechanical devices, components, and assemblies. This role is crucial as it directly contributes to ongoing projects, offering hands-on experience in product development and operational support within a manufacturing environment.

• Mission: This person will work on design and testing projects for electro-mechanical devices and assemblies.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Design and Test: Work on assigned electro-mechanical device, component, assembly, tooling, fixture, and assembly design and testing projects.
• Model and Document: Draft or update engineering drawings and models for assigned products and assemblies.
• Support Operations: Assist with product, component, assembly, and equipment testing, calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Source Components: Research part and component suppliers, then accurately create and maintain parts lists.
• Communicate Findings: Present project research and/or testing findings and recommendations to engineering and/or manufacturing teams, engaging with cross-functional experts and external contacts.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career college student pursuing an Engineering degree, specifically preparing to enter their Junior year of schooling.
• Experience: No specific prior work experience is explicitly required beyond current academic progress towards an engineering degree.
• Skills:
• Design and testing principles for electro-mechanical devices and assemblies.
• Technical drafting and 3D modeling proficiency.
• Problem-solving, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting aptitudes.
• Research and accurate data maintenance skills for parts and components.
• Effective communication and presentation abilities for internal and external stakeholders.
